EYFS- F1 and F2 Classes
We are very proud to have Early years foundation stage provision which provides high quality education for children aged between 3 and 5 years. The Early years consists of Foundation 1 (also known as F1 or Nursery) and Foundation 2 (also known as F2 orn Reception.)
We have one mixed F1 /F2 class and one F2 class. The classes share the outside space together where our 3–5‑year‑olds learn, play, and grow together in a warm, nurturing, and inspiring environment.
Our Early Years team provides a seamless and supportive start to school life, ensuring every child feels happy, safe, and ready to learn.
A Play‑Rich, Child‑Centred Environment
Our classrooms are carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of both F1 and F2 children. Through high‑quality play and hands‑on experiences, children explore, investigate, and follow their own interests while developing early skills in communication, language, maths, reading, creativity, and physical development.
We provide:
- A calm and well‑organised learning environment
- Open‑ended resources that spark curiosity
- Indoor and outdoor spaces that encourage exploration
- Continuous provision that supports independent learning
- Daily opportunities for storytelling, singing, mark‑making, and early maths
Learning Together
Having F1 and F2 children in provision together creates a unique, family‑style atmosphere. Younger children benefit from positive role models, while older children develop confidence, leadership skills, and empathy.
Our experienced Early Years staff tailor learning to each child’s stage—not their age—ensuring that:
- F1 children are gently introduced to routines and early social skills
- F2 children receive the challenge and support needed for school readiness
- Every child makes progress at their own pace
We follow the EYFS Framework, planning exciting themes, provocations, and activities that ignite curiosity and build strong foundations for learning.
Strong Relationships & Individual Support
We believe that young children learn best when they feel secure and understood.
Our team of teachers and teaching assistants at Ladycross spend time building warm, trusting relationships with each child, helping them settle quickly and develop confidence.
We support children with:
- Personal, social, and emotional development
- Early literacy and communication
- Early number sense and problem solving
- Physical development and independence
- Creativity, imagination, and outdoor learning
Regular observations and assessments help us tailor activities to each child’s needs and next steps.
